Introducing Moopes
Social media doesn’t feel as social as it used to, and it’s something a lot of people have quietly noticed over time.
There was a point where you’d open an app just to talk, where conversations actually lasted longer than a few messages, and where getting to know someone felt like the whole point rather than something that happened by accident.
Now most platforms are built around content, feeds, and quick interactions, so even though we’re constantly connected, real conversations have become harder to find.
That’s why we built Moopes.
Moopes is designed to bring things back to something simpler, where the focus is on talking to people in small groups without the noise, pressure, or distraction that usually comes with social apps today, and where conversations can happen naturally instead of feeling rushed or performative.
Whether you want to meet new people, talk about something that’s on your mind, or just spend time in a space where people are actually present and replying, Moopes gives you a place to do that.
Why we built it
The idea came from a simple observation that even though there are more apps than ever that claim to connect people, very few are actually built around conversation itself, and even fewer make it easy to have one that feels real.
On most platforms, you’re either posting into a feed and hoping someone engages, or you’re messaging in a way that feels transactional and short-lived, which makes it difficult to build any kind of natural flow.
We wanted to create something that removes that layer completely and focuses on what people are actually looking for when they open a social app, which is a genuine interaction with someone else.
How it works
Moopes is built around small, topic-based rooms where a limited number of people can join and talk, which changes the dynamic in a way that larger platforms can’t replicate.
Because the group is small, people are more likely to respond, conversations tend to develop more naturally, and it feels closer to sitting in a group and talking rather than broadcasting to an audience.
There’s no pressure to post something polished or to keep up with a feed, and there’s no expectation beyond simply joining a room and being part of the conversation as it unfolds.
What we focus on
Everything about Moopes is built with the intention of keeping the experience simple while making conversations better, which means avoiding unnecessary features, reducing noise, and making it easy for people to just start talking without friction.
It also means prioritising real interactions over everything else, so the focus stays on the people in the room rather than anything happening around it.
Still early
Moopes is still early, and like anything at this stage, it will continue to evolve as more people use it and as we learn what works best.
Features will change, parts of the experience will improve, and some things will be refined along the way, but the core idea remains the same, which is to make it easier for people to have conversations that actually feel like conversations again.
